Today was Luke's 1mo checkup and he looks really good :) He had a little bit of an chaotic birth because his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck that kept choking him when I had contractions and then he could breathe again in between. Every time the doc would be right about to call an emergency c-section his heart rate would come back up. So, we had to get him delivered quickly and when he was coming out his collar bone was broken. I didn't know that until he was 2 weeks old when I was at his checkup talking with the pediatrician about how he was having a hard time nursing on his right side. I felt so guilty for not knowing he was hurt but the pedi said that it is common when babies have a hard time in delivery. All that said, his collar bone is healed :) The pedi said baby bones heal quickly, so that made me happy really today! Plus, he weighs 9 lbs and 4 oz.

At one month old: Luke loves to be held on his tummy, lay swaddled on his left side, he likes to be in his swing, he nurses really good about every 3hrs...he would eat every 1-2hrs in the first couple weeks, but spreading it out a little more now. He loves when his nana, papa, grannie, aunts, uncle, and cousins visit him...which is pretty often. He is pretty spoiled in getting to be held and he LOVES it! His daddy will hold him during night on his chest, because he is addicted to holding him too. Mommy tells him he needs to start putting him down when he falls back to sleep...but, it is easier said then done because I love to hold him during the day.

Luke is so curious and alert after he eats for about an hour and then he falls asleep. He is a very happy baby except for when he wakes up and is ready to eat. He wants to eat right away when he wakes up.  I cherish these times of nursing him and love looking at his curious eyes and wondering what he is thinking...even his nightly appetite isn't so bad because at least I get to see him happy and not laying awake by myself.  I think I sleep more now then I did when I was pregnant with him. LOL. I think last night he cooed twice! It may be too soon for that, but I swear he did when he was smiling at me :)

Makayla and Chloe visiting at the hospital.
Alyssa came to visit us this weekend and couldn't resist getting a little cousin lovin in. Luke loves his cousin lovin.
Harley isn't allowed on the furniture, so she was super happy to take advantage of seeing the baby and getting her mug shot with him.

Harley is already protective of Luke and follows him around. She will come in and make sure he is safe in his swing, sniff him or lick his hand and then lay down. She doesn't like when he cries at night and will make sure we get up to take care of him. Such a good protector!

  1. That is really sweet about Harley!

When Milo was born it had been so long since we'd had a baby that we held him even when he was asleep too and he was the worst sleeper I ever had! 18 months of very little sleep. Part of it's personality too though.

I'm glad you and Luke are doing so well!

  2. Its so hard to put down such cuteness, especially when they are happy and peaceful. Time is going to fly by and Milo will have a good playmate his age to play with and hopefully wear each other out for good sleeping :) I pray Milo gets to the good sleeping stage real soon for you! He is so curious, I know he will have great kid conversations soon...those are the best!
